Christmas Cards and Letters

Ready or not: here they come — the dreaded (or perhaps long awaited) annual Christmas cards and letters from your relatives and friends.

Believe it or not: There is even a virtual Postcard and Greeting Car museum that has a section about the history Christmas cards.

Thanks to Gena Philbert Ortega of Family History Expos.com, here's an idea for recycling Christmas card as placemats in order to share family history with your guests at Christmas dinner.

Read some entertaining Christmas letters about family life and celebrations in Beaufort that former schoolteacher and current Beaufort Gazette food columnist Ervena Faulkner wrote (and mailed) to her family and friends. (I find that commendable. Sometimes I actually mail the Christmas letters I write, too!)

Check out Christmas Letters: An African American Story, 1968—2003 through our Local History sections.
