NGS Conference in Charleston, May 11 -14

Although the Beaufort District Collection is not a genealogical collection per se, we know that many of our in-house customers spend their research time delving into family history. The National Genealogical Society's 33rd Family History Conference is nearby and it would be neglectful of me not to mention it.

The NGS Conference will offer some 150 lectures on such Civil War-related topics as life on the battlefields, prisoner of war records, and analysis of war photographs, among many other broader topics, May 11 -14 in the Charleston (S.C.) Area Convention Center. An exhibit area will be open and free to the public and will feature the latest in genealogical software, online research providers, and DNA testing services.

Founded in 1903, the National Genealogical Society is dedicated to genealogy education, high research standards, and the preservation of genealogical records.
