Since the mid-1980s, the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution has supported a project to identify the names of African Americans, Native Americans, and individuals of mixed heritage who supported the American struggle for independence from Great Britain during the American Revolution.  In 2001 the DAR published African American and American Indian Patriots of the Revolutionary War. There have been several more editions and revisions consisting of hundreds of more pages and names of heretofore unknown patriots.  The publication has proven to be so popular that the NSDAR has posted it online from whence one can download it for free.

Other titles available for download in PDF are:

  • African American Genealogical Research at the DAR Library
  • Guide to Minority Services Research at the DAR Library
