The Library system is running a fun creative exercise to celebrate.
If you've been in the Research Room, you'll know that we don't have much wall space in the public area - and the 2nd floor lobby is filled with the wonderful "Heart of the Home" exhibit through June 12th. It'll be fun to see what our budding poets write at other locations throughout the system, though.

We've got three programs lined up for April:
Last Ferry to Beaufort: an Author Book talk, sale and signing with local author Charles Wersler. He shares the life and times of Capt. Willie Roberts, 1865- 1952, the last ferryman in Beaufort County. Saturday, April 18th at 1 pm in the BDC. Come early and view the "Heart of the Home" exhibit 11 am - 1 pm.
Dr. Chester DePratter explains the archaeology at the mid-16th century capitol of New Spain, Santa Elena on Thursday, April 23 at 6 pm in the BDC. We're keeping the "Heart of the Home" exhibit open that day until 6 pm. This lecture is co-sponsored by Beaufort Chapter, Archaeological Society of South Carolina.

The Library system is closed Wed., April 22nd for Staff Development Day.
Remember that you're never far away from local history brought to you by the Beaufort District Collection, the Library's special local history collections and archives. The "Virtual BDC" is only a few clicks away under the "Local History" tab on the Library system's homepage.
