January 2025 Overview

To begin 2025 we suggest that you look back to 1863 and that Day of Jubilee, Emancipation Day. Read first person accounts of all that happened on that Red Letter Local History day in elsewhere in this blog.

Please resolve to participate in one BDC local history program this coming year. We do our best to arrange educational experiences about a variety of local history topics at the larger branch libraries in the system. Our local history programs for 2025 come fast and furiously beginning January 16th. You can read more about what's on offer in the Connections post made on 16 December 2024.

As a heads up: The Library system will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025 in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
