Librarians Become Unofficial Job Counselors -- NPR
National Public Radio's Day to Day program (January 23, 2009) carried an interview with Linda Yoder, Director of the Nappanee Public Library (IN) about the stress upon -- and value of --public libraries during periods of economic stress. For example, headcounts are higher, more materials than ever are being checked out, lines for computers to write resumes and search for jobs are growing. Listen to the interview and read the comments to appreciate how a public library can help its community when times get tough.
