Local Museums To Visit on International Museums Day
International Museums Day is May 18th. This year's theme is "Museums and Tourism," dedicated to "celebrating ethical, responsible, sustainable tourism, showing how heritage can bring tourists and local communities together in new, mutually beneficial relationships."
A number of the members within the Beaufort County Historical Resources Consortium own and operate museum facilities. Vacationers and local residents have a variety of museums to visit: Parris Island Museum, the Coastal Discovery Museum, the house museums of the Bluffton Historical Preservation Society, Inc., the house museums of the Historic Beaufort Foundation and the Historic Port Royal Foundation's Port Royal Museum. (The Arsenal remains closed for renovations.)
