Last February, the Tricentennial Lecture Series was a SRO, rousing success. (I should know -- I went with a pre-paid series ticket and my son got turned away at the door because the session was full.) So, if you missed the series last year, you have another chance!
The Beaufort Three-Century Project and the University of South Carolina Beaufort are again offering the community an opportunity to hear the "history rock stars of Beaufort County" - Dr. Larry Rowland, Dr. Steve Wise, and Dr. John McCardell - introduce you to the intriguing people and events that have created a unique history for this very special place in which we live. Join them for one or all parts of the 4-part series, Friday evenings 7 - 9 pm on January 15th, 22nd, and 29th and February 5th.
To learn more about the series, contact: Deborah Johnson, Beaufort Three-entury Project at 843-489-1711 or Jo Ann Kingsley, USCB Continuing Education Coordinator, at 843-521-4147. To purchase tickets ($10.00 per lecture),contact the Performing Arts Center box office call: 843-521-4145; drop by their office at 801 Carteret Street; or order online via their website, www.beaufortscperformingarts.com.
Please note: I heartily recommend the series as a wonderful introduction to our community's local history. For $10 a lecture, you will more than get your money's worth of information and entertainment. You are sure to learn something you didn't already know. I did.
Q: What's the pay-off for the Library system?
A: We hope that your attendance at the lecture series will wet your appetite so much that you will delve deeper into that history by using our local history resources in the Beaufort County Library.
