52 Ways to Use Your Library Card

The American Library Association (ALA) puts out a list of "52 Ways to Use Your Library Card" to encourage that everyone has -- and uses -- what I believe is the best value for your tax dollars: A public library card. This year's list begins with one that gets repeated each year because it is so crucial to the other 51 ways.

For Week 1 of 2010 the ALA recommends that you "Get to know your librarian, the ultimate search engine @ your library®." Nothing can replace the high quality interaction between a customer with an expressed information need and the skill of a MLS degreed reference librarian about how to ferret out resources to satisfy your information need. Librarians have know-how.
