Please Give Us Your Opinion

In an effort to offer the very best service possible, the Beaufort County Library is in the process of developing a long range plan designed to ensure that we deliver high-quality 21st century library service. As part of this process, we are soliciting opinions and ideas from community residents.

Read what our Assistant Director, Jan O'Rourke, wrote for the local newspapers about the strategic planning process.

As you have no doubt internalized by now since I write it about it fairly often:
Public libraries get stuck between a rock and a hard place during days of economic downturns. We get more customers who check out more materials and ask for more help with computers, homework, and job searching. Library program attendance is up. More customers are visiting the library and due to attrition and hiring freezes, less staff is available to help customers. Money and staff are stretched tight.

We want to be able to give you, our customers, the best service we can. In order to maximize our services to you, we need to know how you feel about our services now, services you would like to for us to provide, and perhaps which of our current services you think we can stop doing for you.

If Beaufort County Library is the best thing going, then please say so in the survey. If you think that we can do better, say that in the survey, too. [If you're going to criticize, please be constructive about it. Offer concrete suggestions as to how we can better meet your needs for library services].

I encourage you to make your voice heard. Please take a few moments and participate in the survey. Your input is valued and we thank you for helping us understand how we can serve you better.
