BDC Program Series Continues

The 2010 Beaufort District Collection program schedule relating to the history, culture, and environment of Beaufort District continues on Thursday, April 29th.

Dr. Nicholas M. Butler, author and archivist, will talk about his research into the construction of colonial Fort Lyttleton. Fort Lyttleton, built on Spanish Point in 1757-58, was the largest fortification in the Beaufort area during the colonial period. Although little remains of its tabby walls today, contemporary descriptions of the fort's construction provide valuable details that allow us to re-imagine its once formidable appearance.

The Beaufort County Library is hosting two sessions of "Building Fort Lyttleton, 1757-1758" on Thursday, April 29th to better accommodate our library customers who are interested in local history topics. The program is free and open for anyone aged 12 years and over.
Afternoon Program, Hilton Head Branch, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Evening Program, Beaufort Branch, 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
