Extra! Extra! Extra!

Extra! Extra! Extra!

The Beaufort District Collection 1st floor Research Room is closed for relocation as of Friday, July 16th at 5 pm.

If you have a question to ask BDC staff, you had best get it into our e-mail before this Friday at 5 pm. We're frantically trying to tie up all loose ends and on-going reference transactions before we go into shutdown.

During our research room relocation, please make full use of our "Virtual BDC" resources, the branch library local history sections, and the considerable skills of the rest of the reference staff within the library system. Contact the other branch libraries for assistance during our shutdown.

Most of our usual and customary BDC Reference Services will be suspended during the relocation. See our Beaufort District Collection Services webpage for specific limitations to particular services or restrictions on access to particular titles. And of course, you can always contact the reference librarians on staff to help you regardless of your question.

The inventory and relocation of the materials and equipment from the first floor Research Room into our newly renovated 2nd floor quarters (aka the Paul Siegmund Room) will begin on Monday, July 19th. We are hoping to be all done and to manage the new facility to national standards for special collections by Archives Month.

Expect updates from time to time during the relocation process via this blog or the Beaufort County Library's homepage.

It's taken almost 9 years to get to this point. And the folks who made this happen know who they are and how much we appreciate all that they did to make the relocation a coming reality. Thank you. It's Really, Really Happening -- and I am not completely totally gray-haired yet. Pinch Me!
