Laura Lee Rose, Horticultural Agent for Clemson Extension and President of the Southcoast Chapter of the South Carolina Native Plant Society, will discuss "Native Plants" with the customers at our St. Helena Branch Library on Saturday, September 25th. Rose, a horticultural maven (she objected to me saying she was an "expert" when I introduced her in May at Bluffton Branch) often seen on SCETV's "Making It Grow", will share her love and deep knowlege about our many native plants with participants.
I learned a whole lot at the Spring session she did for us at Bluffton Branch. From the evaluation sheets, I know that I was not alone. Indeed, local newspaper writer Betsy Jukofsky was inspired by Rose's presentation to highlight the many wonderful native plants that grow here in her June 13, 2010 column for the Island Packet/Beaufort Gazette: "Try These Drought-Resistant Plants."
