On Display This Month
In honor of South Carolina Archives Month, we have a small display of corresponding to this year's theme "Documents Can Change a Nation."
On exhibit are a facsimile of the South Carolina "Ordinance of Secession;" the Declaration of Intention for Naturalization Book from our own archives; a facsimile of the Treaty with the Cherokees signed by Royal Governor William Lyttelton in 1759; and, the Alien Registration book of the World War II era, also from our own archives.
I will write a short entry on each of the items currently on display here in Connections over the next two weeks -- for those of you who cannot come to visit our research room.
For those of you who are in our area, please drop by the Beaufort District Collection Research Room to see the items up close and personal. We're open for business 10 am until 5 pm Mondays through Fridays.
