How to see "Keeping the May River Wild"

On November 4th, naturalist and film-maker Greg Smith showed his documentary, Keeping the May River Wild in the Beaufort Branch as part of the BDC @ The Branches program series. It is a quiet film that captures the sights and sounds of the May River, including its plethora of wildlife and plant life.

SC ETV says "This program presents striking photography combined with a collection of the sounds of nature as well as interviews with people who understand the river, its residents and the challenges they face from rapid area development."

You can check out the Keeping the May River Wild DVD from any of our branch libraries. This allows you to view it at your leisure or you can watch it on the Southern Lens series on SC ETV's SCChannel on December 13th at
8 p. m.

Here's a list of library materials about coastal ecology in case you want to delve a little deeper.

While you're checking out our library materials on ecology and nature, why not stroll upstairs to the BDC for an additional (free) treat? The Beaufort Photography Club has "All Creatures Great and Small" on display in the 2nd floor gallery (just outside the new BDC Research Room) that includes some wonderful images of local wildlife and flora. (The show, while not exclusively consisting of images taken in our area, has more than enough "local environmental history" related images to "fit" Connections.) The show will run through the end of December.
