Good Books and Good Friends: A Great Combination

Beaufort County Library system has three Friends of the Library groups. Each group is independent. Each group has its special projects and ways in which it supports one or more component of the library system. On tap for the spring are two book series and a film series.

The Friends of the Beaufort County Library have begun their 2012 Books Sandwiched In series.

Just like last year, CityTrex is providing podcasts of the book review sessions in case you can't make it to the programs held on Mondays, Jan. 23rd - Feb. 27th, from Noon to 1 pm at the USCB Center for the Arts. Click here to get to the index from which to make your choices. (New podcasts will be added as they become available).

On the 2012 Books Sandwiched In schedule are:

Jan 23rd: THAT USED TO BE US by Thomas Friedman presented by Dr. Valerie Truesdale

Jan 30th: THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO by Stieg Larsson presented by Deanna Bowdish

Feb 6th: HIDDEN IN PLAIN VIEW by Jacqueline L. Tobin and Raymond G. Dobard presented by Charles D. Frost

Feb 20th: UNBROKEN by Laura Hillenbrand presented by Gary Kubic

The Friends of the Hilton Head Library group sponsors the Book Break series. This year, I draw particular attention to the session by Wilbur Cross and Emory Campbell on books about Gullah culture. Sessions are held in the Hilton Head Branch Library's Community Room beginning at Noon.
