Panel Discussion about Waterfront Park Kicks off Season 2 of Popular Series

The Beaufort County Library and the Beaufort History Museum were delighted with the unexpected response to our pilot local history series. We had 917 people attend our series September 2016 - May 2017. We will hold some of the Season 2 lectures at larger venues to accommodate more people. Interest in Beaufort's long and storied local history is alive and well.

Our pilot season demonstrated that though interest is high, the staff and volunteers to run the series could not maintain such a vigorous schedule of programs going forward. Therefore, both institutions agreed that we have had to drastically trim the number of programs offered and to spread the lectures out more. Thus, we plan on hosting programs in September and November 2017. Plans are crystallizing for spring programs in 2018 including one about the phosphate mining industry and the first English settler of South Carolina.

September sees a panel discussion about the trials and tribulations of creating Beaufort’s signature waterfront community space.
