We know the Library is a critical resource for Beaufort
County residents, so we are taking the following steps to support our customers
and staff as much as possible during this temporary closure:
•
All library card expiration dates have been extended for 30 days
•
All holds have been suspended until the library re-opens to the public
•
All book drops will be closed
•
Overdue fines will not accrue during the time the libraries are closed
•
Custodial staff have implemented enhanced cleaning protocols using proper
disinfectants in all areas
If you're reading this, then you know that the BDC has social media accounts. In fact, there's over 1500 posts here in Connections, and we've been posting to Facebook for a number of years as well. In other words, there are all sorts of tidbits about the people, places, events, Gullah culture, and themes of Beaufort District's long and storied history already on the web for you to enjoy. Plus I have at least one Facebook post per day already scheduled through the end of March - and I will highlight some of the local history related items in the Library's downloaded services for those customers who have a valid Beaufort County Library card. So, in my not so humble opinion, one can still get her/his "Local History On" just by checking into our Facebook account or WordPress blog to learn something new.
During the closure, customers are encouraged to use the library's downloadable services and online resources.
Updates regarding reopening will be posted to the Library's homepage. Stay tuned to https://www.beaufortcountysc.gov/ for official updates regarding Beaufort County services.
Thank you and please stay safe.
