April 2025 Monthly Overview

No foolin': This is what the BDC has on our calendar for April.

We have 3 local history programs: a Behind-the-Scenes Tour of the BDC (Registration required: 843-255-6468); the delayed reprise of "Freedom Seekers on the Planter with Robert Smalls" with NPS Chris Barr at Bluffton Branch; and Dr. Tom Burnett on how the local ecology played a role in the course of the American Revolution in Beaufort District. We are grateful for our partners the Beaufort County Historical Society; Beaufort History Museum; and the Beaufort County 250 Committee who are helping us bring these programs to you.
We are also making an outreach visit during National Library Week to another County agency per directive from Library Marketing and staff will be womanning a booth at the USCB ISRE symposium on April 25-26.

The Library will be closed on Friday, April 18 for Good Friday and closed again on Tuesday, April 22 for Staff Development Day.

Sydney gets a break this month: Cassandra is responsible for the April Reading Room Display case. I get a break too - I'll be away on vacation so expect only 3 "Uniquely BDC" and 4 "Black History Note" posts this month. Both are helping me by writing some BDC social media pieces of their own.

Our themes for BDC social media posts in April are National Library Week; National Poetry Month; Garden Clubs; Jazz Appreciation Month and Preservation Week.
