"The American Revolution in Beaufort District" with Neil Baxley Coming Soon

After the whirlwind of 5 local history programs and 3 outreach events from October 4th - November 2nd, we scheduled only one other local history program for mid-November. We continue our series about the course of the War of Independence with a session with Neil Baxley about military actions within Beaufort District. The Beaufort History Museum and BDC are pleased that the Beaufort County 250th Committee is a co-sponsor of this session.

Baxley's done entertaining and informative sessions about the history of the Sheriff's Office, bootlegging, Gen. Stephen Elliott, and other topics for the BDC through the years. We expect no less from his latest offering: 

Tuesday, November 18, 2025 - "The American Revolution in Beaufort District" with Neil Baxley | Co-sponsored by the Beaufort District Collection, Beaufort History Museum, and the Beaufort County 250th Committee  BDC@ Beaufort Branch Library, 311 Scott Street | 2 PM. Doors will open for seating at 1:30 PM. 


About Neil Baxley:

A native of North Carolina, Neil Baxley spent 4 years in the Marine Corps before joining the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office more than 40 years ago.  In 2013, Col. Baxley was put in charge of Beaufort County's Emergency Management Division.  In his spare time, he studies and writes history. He's given presentations at the South Carolina Archives and at area museums and libraries. He's authored two Confederate regimental history books, Walk in the Light: The Journey of the 10th and 19th South Carolina Volunteer Infantry (2013) and No Prouder Fate: The Story of the 11th South Carolina Volunteer Infantry (2009) and the foreword to Confederate General Stephen Elliott: Beaufort Legend, Charleston Hero by D. Michael Thomas (2020).
