What We're Doing During April 2026: The BDC's Monthly Overview

No fooling. The BDC has a lot going on in April, too.

The joint BDC/ Beaufort County Historical Society's Revealing the Revolution project kicks off today. Pick up a game sheet at any branch library or download the deluxe version from the BCHS website. You'll have until July 2 to complete the challenge and win prizes. Details are elsewhere in the BDC's Connections blog.
While we're on the subject of the upcoming Quarter Millennial, the BDC will have a table at the Beaufort History Museum's Revolutionary War Encampment at the Arsenal on April 11.

We'll be celebrating National Poetry with Sydney's program on April 10th (registration opens today!) and featuring poetry anthologies by Black poets on Wednesdays this month.

We celebrate National Library Week with two programs. As some of you are aware the Library has a new website. The addresses for some of the BDC's "stuff" has changed. Sydney, Cassi and I will walk folks through how to find the BDC "stuff" on the Library's new website the evening of April 22. (Registration opens April 8). Cassi takes her archival adventures south of the Broad River on April 23 to highlight some of the Hilton Head and Bluffton related archival collections the BDC takes care of.

We end the month with posts about preservation practices you can do at home. I'll write a post here about historic travelogues we have in the BDC.

Please note: The Library system will be closed on Friday, April 3 and Tuesday, April 21.
