"Mama's Garden"

We continue to celebrate National Poetry Month by sharing some poems from titles in our holdings here in the Beaufort District Collection and/or in the local history sections.

Beaufort's native daughter, Patricia Bee, wrote of her "Mama's Garden:"

We were taught to give our flowers
While Mama's eyes could see
She left us pearls of wisdom
To carry on our legacy.

Have you been inspired by these snippets to try your hand at poetry? If so, you can write your own poem and post it in the Library system's "Sticky Poetry" initiative at your favorite branch library!
