"Slaves of Tombee" Talk This Saturday at STH Branch
This Saturday, May 9th, I will talk about "Slaves of Tombee" as revealed through the diary of slaveowner, Thomas B. Chaplin and introduce participants to some of the African-American history and genealogical resources inside the Ancestry Library Edition database. I'll also bring along some of the treasures of the Beaufort District Collection for participants to view. The selected items will supplement the talk and provide some context for the larger story of slaves, their owners, and history of St. Helena Island. I hope to see you at the St. Helena Branch Library beginning at 1 pm.
