Dickens Edits Dickens

Courtesy of a notice I saw in American Libraries Direct 12/02/2009:

You have a rare opportunity to become a Dickens scholar and study one of his manuscripts online. The Morgan Library and Museum has posted a digital version of the original manuscript of A Christmas Carol -- with Dickens's own edits -- for you to review and about which you can submit comments.

To learn more about the project, read "A Christmas Rewrite, as Dickens Edits Dickens" by Alison Leigh Cowan in the New York Times, December 1, 2009 available online at http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/12/01/a-christmas-rewrite-as-dickens-edits-dickens/.

If you're not up to doing the hard work of an editor during the holiday season, you can always check out the printed, audio, and video versions of A Christmas Carol from the Library. According to a quick search of our catalog, the Beaufort County Library owns 42 different versions of the classic tale. Surely one of them will fit your needs. Happy Holidays!
