"Who Do You Think You Are?"

NBC is putting on a new show "Who Do You Think You Are?" that may be of interest to those readers who are interested in uncovering their own family history. According to the promotional blurb sent out from Ancestry.com:

The NBC series features Lisa Kudrow, Sarah Jessica Parker, Spike Lee, Matthew Broderick, Susan Sarandon, Emmitt Smith, and Brooke Shields, and takes each celebrity on a heart-warming journey back in time as they discover more about the ancestors who came before them.

Who Do You Think You Are? also shares ideas and research strategies that could help you make new breakthroughs — and help people everywhere understand what they could discover about their own family stories.

The first episode airs this Friday, March 5 beginning at 8PM on NBC. Check your satellite, cable, or antenna for the appropriate NBC channel.

For a critique of the series, I recommend that you read "Henry Louis Gates's Extended Family" by Alondra Nelson from the Chronicle of Higher Education.
