We had a very engaged audience last night in Beaufort Branch for Sandy Dimke's "Photos for Future Generations," the opening salvo of the Spring 2011 BDC@ The Branches series. Sandy was great! Thanks to all who came to learn how to take and archive interesting photographs for their descendants.
Upcoming programs in the Spring 2011 BDC@ The Branches Program Series are:
Apr. 16 - Amy Jenkins Bassett will share her book of poems, Mulberry Wine in a Poetry Reading BDC@ St. Helena Branch, 11:30 am - 12:30 pm (in honor of Beaufort County Library's Open House and National Poetry Month!)
Apr. 20 - Naturalist Marvin Bouknight will discuss his book, South Carolina's Lowcountry ... Naturally, BDC@ Beaufort Branch, at 6 pm.
Apr. 26 - Ms. Bassett offers a reprise of her Mulberry Wine Poetry Reading at 4 pm in a BDC@ Lobeco Branch presentation.
May 5 - Alice Connelly Moore shares her Inspired Words, a collection of poems and short essays at 2 pm in another BDC@ Beaufort Branch program.
May 15th -- The BDC travels to Bluffton Branch to offer a session of our Basic Genealogy Workshop featuring Ancestry Library Edition. Examples are drawn from how one locates ancestors in Beaufort District, SC using materials from our holdings because that is what we do. BDC@ Bluffton Branch, 2:00 - 4:00pm. Spaces are limited by the number of computer terminals in the Bluffton computer lab. Pre-registration is required: 255 - 6503.
PS: We cannot do this workshop in Beaufort, St. Helena, nor Lobeco Branches during regular hours. Those locations do not have computer labs. But they do have library customers who rely on the public internet computers who complain loudly and long when we take computers offline for instructional sessions. Therefore, if you're interested in this particular genealogy-related class, this may be your last chance for awhile. Sign up - 255-6503 - if there's still room.
