Native
daughter, Mary Stanley Bunce Palmer Dana Shindler (a.k.a. Mary S. B.
Dana) is the perfect person to transition from National Women's History
in March into National Poetry Month in April. Shindler was a woman of
character, courage and commitment who poured out her grief and faith in
religious poetry, many of which became the text for 19th century hymns.
Learn more about her from a previous entry here in Connections http://bit.ly/1hLkR5Q
Perhaps learning more about Shindler's poems will put you in the mood to try your hand at writing haikus about this wonderful place we live! The Library system is celebrating National Poetry Month with a contest - where everyone is a winner!
The haikus submitted to the website will be collected for retention here in the Beaufort County Library's archives.
